ENT Updates Editorial Board Meeting and Early Career Editorial Board Engagement Held in Gaomi, China

ENT Updates (ENTU) Editorial Board Meeting and Head and Neck Minimally Invasive Surgery New Technology Promotion and Exchange Conference of the National Clinical Research Center for Otorhinolaryngologic Diseases, organized by the Editorial Board of ENT Updates and the National Clinical Research Center for Otorhinolaryngologic Diseases, and hosted by Gaomi People's Hospital, was held in Gaomi, Shandong, China, on September 26–27, 2026.

The meeting brought together experts in otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery from universities, hospitals, and research institutions across China, including members of the ENT Updates Editorial Board and Early Career Editorial Board. Participants engaged in academic exchange on recent advances in the field, emerging clinical technologies, and the development of the journal.

Professor Mingbo Liu, Editor-in-Chief of ENT Updates, Director of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Deputy Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Otorhinolaryngologic Diseases, and Leader of the National Head and Neck Minimally Invasive Surgery Collaborative Group, attended the meeting and delivered opening remarks.

Academic Exchange on Emerging Clinical Technologies

On September 26, an academic session focusing on emerging technologies and clinical advances was held, bringing together early and mid-career specialists from universities and hospitals across China.

The presentations covered a range of topics in otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery, including head and neck tumors, hearing reconstruction, minimally invasive thyroid surgery, rhinology and ophthalmology-related surgery, artificial intelligence in diagnosis and treatment, and photodynamic and fluorescence-based diagnosis.

Through surgical video presentations, invited talks, and on-site discussion, participating specialists shared their clinical experience, research findings, and perspectives on emerging technologies. The session provided an opportunity for academic exchange and highlighted the contributions of early and mid-career specialists to innovation in clinical practice and research.

First ENT Updates Editorial Board Meeting

On September 27, the first ENT Updates Editorial Board Meeting in China was held in Gaomi, Shandong, bringing together Editorial Board members and Early Career Editorial Board members based in China.

An appointment ceremony for the China-based Editorial Board members and Early Career Editorial Board members was held during the meeting. Participating experts discussed the development of ENT Updates, its academic positioning, and approaches to strengthening the journal's editorial and academic activities.

The meeting brought together several China-based members of the Editorial Board, along with a larger group of China-based Early Career Editorial Board members. Their participation provides an important opportunity to strengthen the journal's connections with researchers and clinicians in China while contributing to its broader international academic network.

The China-based Editorial Board and Early Career Editorial Board members will contribute to ENT Updates through activities including peer review, academic exchange, topic development, and other editorial initiatives. Their engagement will support the journal's continued development and strengthen academic connections between researchers and clinicians in China and the international community.

Professor Mingbo Liu shared perspectives on the journal's current development, opportunities, challenges, and future directions. Participants exchanged views on the journal's academic positioning, quality development, editorial practices, internationalization, and strategies for strengthening the journal's academic profile.

The discussion provided an opportunity for Editorial Board members and Early Career Editorial Board members to share their perspectives and contribute ideas for the continued development of the journal.

The two-day meeting brought together academic exchange, clinical innovation, and editorial discussion, further strengthening communication among experts and members of the ENT Updates Editorial Board and Early Career Editorial Board.

ENT Updates will continue to strengthen its Editorial Board and Early Career Editorial Board, improve the quality of its academic content and publishing practices, and promote academic exchange among researchers and clinicians internationally.
