Topical Collection Information:

Dear Colleagues,

Microgrid is understood as a self-sufficient energy system that serves a discrete geographic footprint, such as a college campus, hospital complex, business center or neighborhood. These days solar PV panels are becoming more affordable that previous decades which convert it, within microgrids distributed energy technologies, in an economically viable energy source. Energy source that joins the spreading of electric vehicle use and thus electric vehicle charging stations which requires pay close attention.

As a broad and common concern, many entities as industry, governments, organizations and academia are paying close attention to face all related aspects that may affect the desired functioning of PV-based microgrid integration. Despite the potential benefits, PV microgrid development has a number of challenges and limitations that need to be researched. Some of them are technical as those related with their operation and management, component and compatibility, integration or related with the protection aspects. However, others are focused on aspects as economy, market or even their regulatory framework.

This Topical Collection has, therefore, a broad scope though it is focused on the Photovoltaic-based Microgrids. Submitted papers may deal with operation and management as design, security, power quality, load balance or stability issues; component, compatibility and integration as equipment specification, communication protocols or even bidirectional power flow; not forgetting the protection topics these systems require. Leading-edge papers addressing economy, market or regulatory frameworks, from any country around the world, are also welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information:

Please visit the Submissions Guidelines page before submitting a manuscript. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Manuscripts should be submitted online through the online manuscript submission and editorial system. Additionally, please include a cover letter specifying that the manuscript is intended for the Topical Collection "Photovoltaic-based Microgrids" when submitting it online. Manuscripts can be submitted until the submission deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the Topical Collection website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract can be sent to the Editorial Office neea@ukscip.com for announcement on this website.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 300 USD. Authors who are unable to cover this cost or those who are invited to submit papers may be eligible for discounts or waivers.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
