Chinese Academy of Sciences Discovers Root Cause of "Room-temperature Superconducting Material" Artifacts

Recently, preprint papers on LK-99 have been "flooding" the arXiv website because the material was claimed to be capable of room-temperature superconductivity by a South Korean research team. But that may be coming to an end soon: a new preprint paper published on arXiv not only says that LK-99's ability to superconduct at room temperature is an illusion, but also finds the reason for the illusion - cuprous sulfide impurities.

China's First Forage-based Multi-omics Database Platform Established

Milletdb contains the genomes of 7 genera of Millets and 1800 different genomics data, including graphical pangenomics, genome, transcriptomics, epigenomics, variegation, and phenomics, etc. Milletdb also integrates 20 utilities, which can help users quickly identify individual genes, construct regulatory networks from multiple levels, and characterize gene sets, enabling rapid search for candidate genes and their related information. on August 3, the paper was formally published in the academic journal called Plant Biotechnology Journal (Plant Biotechnology Journal).

Milletdb is by far the most comprehensive multi-omics database for millet and wolfsbane, and is also the first multi-omics database focusing on forage grasses in China. It contains and visualizes a large amount of multi-omics data, allowing users to extend the study of individual genes to the level of genetic networks. Milletdb has a user-friendly, bilingual interface and provides operation manuals for all tools, which can effectively promote the gene function study and molecular breeding process of lycopods.

After Half a Century, Russia's Mission to the Moon Resumed

Recently, the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket carrying the unmanned lunar probe Luna-25 was launched from the Eastern Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East. This is the first time in 47 years that Russia has restarted a lunar exploration mission.

According to Nature, Luna-25 will take about five days to enter a near-moon orbit and is scheduled to make a soft landing on Aug. 21 near Boguslavsky crater, about 500 kilometers from the moon's south pole, with two orbital adjustments planned before landing. If successful, Luna-25 will be the first probe in human history to land at the moon's south pole. "At the south pole of the moon, we may s

Lunar Landing Gear Be New Soon! Lunar landers and others are on their way.

China plans to achieve a manned landing on the Moon by 2030, and to accomplish this task. China is developing the Long March 10 launch vehicle. The new-generation manned launch vehicle, named Long March 10, has been designed in two configurations, the first with boost, which is mainly responsible for sending the lunar lander and the lunar landing craft into the Earth-Moon transfer orbit. Because of the long delivery distance, the rocket thrust is higher in this configuration. The height is about 92 meters, the take-off mass is about 2,187 tons, and the take-off thrust is about 2,678 tons.

At present the development work is in the process of orderly and rapid progress, the typical characteristics of the launch vehicle is also the use of non-toxic and non-polluting liquid oxygen kerosene propellant, the core stage diameter of 5 meters, bundled with a 5-meter diameter booster. Of course, in order to meet the needs of manned landing on the moon, its biggest requirement is that the carrying capacity should be large, so its future lunar orbit carrying capacity is 27 tons, which is more than three times higher than that of the Long March 5, and the carrying capacity of the near-Earth orbit is about 70 tons, which is about three times higher than that of the Long March 5, which is roughly of the same order of magnitude.
