Dear Colleagues,
The initial promises of Industry 4.0 have now matured into a diversity of theoretical methods and implementations across the globe. This phenomenon started in business and moved toward establishment in markets and society, demanding holistic analysis by researchers and practitioners on its socio-technical frontiers. This special issue seeks to provide such a comprehensive and holistic snapshot of the Industry 4.0 phenomenon. We invite original work under the scope of this special issue, which covers empirical research grounded in the fields of either Computer Science or Production Engineering, developed through either quantitative, qualitative or systematic literature review methodologies, which present contributions that range from state-of-the-art to application cases and experiences. Subjects must address at least one of the following topics:

Manuscripts should be submitted online through the online manuscript submission and editorial system. Additionally, please include a cover letter specifying that the manuscript is intended for the Special Issue "The Holistic Industry 4.0 Snapshot: Maturity, Establishment and Socio-Technical Frontiers" when submitting it online. Manuscripts can be submitted until the submission deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract can be sent to the Editor Lorena Gu lorena@ukscip.com for announcement on this website.
The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 USD. Authors who are unable to cover this cost or those who are invited to submit papers may be eligible for discounts or waivers.
